What to Wear This Fall: 6 Trends to Try
Hey queens, it’s time to get into these 2023 fall fashion trends! See what’s hitting the runway this season so you can get your fall wardrobe in formation!
1.) Red is the New Black
This first trend is absolutely speaking to my love for the color RED! The color is bold, eye-catching, and makes a statement every time. I had a complete obsession with wearing red all last fall, so I’m personally happy to see this trend make its way to the limelight 🤣. I know the idea of wearing a color, yet alone red, seems like an immediate “NO” for some people. However, you can incorporate this trend in a less intimidating way. Pairing your outfit with a red handbag, a cool statement shoe, or even a super bold, red lip can add the perfect pop to your look.
“Arriving on the the autumn/winter 2023 runways like jolts of adrenaline, shades of scarlet, crimson, carmine and ruby bled into everything: from polished overcoats at The Row and high-shine skirt suits at Prada, to crisp suiting at Ferragamo and winter wool at Fendi.” - Vouge

2.) Circle Skirts
I am absolutely loving this next fall 2023 trend, which is (drum roll)….circle skirts! It’s quite possible that you have seen different variations of this skirt in many shapes and forms 😂 . Nonetheless, I love how this classic style has simply gotten better with time. Its versatility makes for the perfect transition piece into fall, and you can easily dress it up with pumps, or down with combat boots. Circle skirts are also the perfect piece to compliment any body shape! I’m looking forward to playing around more with this trend for fashion month (outside of Copenhagen; pictures below)!
“They say fashion comes full circle and the 50s silhouette is back. The circle skirt was embraced by Christian Dior post-war and it’s back in the Fall fashion 2023 trends.” -40 Plus Style x Fall Fashion Trends 2023

3.) Staple Pieces (Quiet Luxury)
Whether dubbed as “Elevated Staples”, or “Luxxe Minimalism”, this 2023 fall trend speaks to my main love for timeless and classic tailored pieces! The idea of curating a wardrobe with elevated pieces that are tailored, fitted, and have.a sophisticated feel is very on brand for my style pillars. The thing I love most about this trend is that you can explore it across any type of clothing, color pallet, or silhouette. Whether you’re styling a trench coat, pair of trousers, or slip skirt, try to go for a more tailored look this fall to achieve that poise, understated, but high-value vibe. Places like #Mytheresa and #TheOutnet are great places to shop luxury basics during their ongoing online sale.
“The key to creating a minimalist wardrobe this fall is to capitalize on pieces that are easy to wear, luxurious, and chic — yet comfy. One-and-done outfits like maxi dresses are easy to wear and style, and if they incorporate some chic detailing (like the gold shoulder details in the above photo), you've got yourself a perfect luxe minimalist ensemble. You can also look for solid-color fitted dresses that are ruched along the sides.” - W. Magazine

4.) Butter Yellow
Up next on the list is an unexpected departure from the typical neutral pallet that normally goes hand-in-hand with fall. Butter yellow is one color that the fashion world can’t get enough of this fall season! This is certainly another trend that I’m a fan of because yellow is just one of those colors that look great on brown, melanated skin tones. Instead of styling an outfit with your typical whites and variations of creams as a base, butter yellow can serve as a trendy alternate this season to provide a much needed, yet subtle pop of color. Of course, if you’re struggling to incorporate color into your wardrobe, you can start off with easier pieces to style such as blazers, jackets, and handbags.
“Yellow is a mood booster. It reminds us of sunshine and positivity, which is perfect for the time of year where the days begin to get shorter and the weather becomes colder. For those who tend to gravitate toward neutral shades, light lemon colors are a refreshing pick that still feels easy on the eyes.” -The Every Girl

5.) Peplums Everywhere
Its raining peplums across the runway this fashion season! This 2000s, millennial look is pushing to the forefront of fashion trends in a very unique and innovative way. But they’re not the frumpy, ill-fitting peplums that you might be used to seeing. Although the base silhouette remains the same (a snatched waist with sides that accentuate and are sometimes accompanied by a frill or two), designers are rolling out peplums with structure and interesting corset details for a very chic look. This is definitely another look that I’m excited to get into this fall!
“While the word ‘peplum’ might trigger cringy flashbacks to a decade ago, the silhouette is undeniably back in fashion. As Y2K’s grand comeback starts to slow down and designers turn their attention to the 2010s, peplum tops are getting the remix treatment.” - Glamour Magazine

6.) Colored Leather
Last but certainly not least, be on the lookout for colored leather this upcoming fall season. I’m excited about this trend because leather is one of my favorite, most subtle ways to add texture to an outfit. It’s also the perfect material to layer as we head into the cooler months. Leather trench coats and jackets are an easy way to add color to your outfit. Color blocking leather pieces can be a fun and stylish way to play into this trend!
“Pro tip: opt for sleek and ladylike silhouettes for added contrast and interest. Or, take things to the next level with a leather piece in an unexpected colorway—though we would suggest red, as it is the natural evolution from the Barbiecore pink we've seen explode in popularity this summer.” Town & Country Magazine
